SharePoint Systems Analyst

We are looking for a SharePoint Systems Analyst for our Client in Evanston, IL.

Type: Full time
Salary: 80-90K

Position Description

General Overview

The Sharepoint Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring optimal use of the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) product to address the needs and challenges of the business while providing mentoring and guidance for offshore development resources. 

The SharePoint Systems Analyst is responsible for:

  • Supporting existing MOSS applications
  • Working on projects to migrate or replace existing applications with MOSS
  • Integrating existing packaged software with MOSS

 

The Sharepoint Systems Analyst is expected to work closely with the Senior Systems Analysts, Business Analysts, Developers, Enterprise Architect and Operations staff in an offshore development environment.

Education
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Science or Technology.

Knowledge and Skills

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills will allow this individual to understand the business problems and ensure solutions that adheres to best practices.  Conducting code reviews and providing feedback to offshore developers will ensure standards are met.  Critical and Analytical thinking skills and the ability to work in a team setting are a must.

Excellent understanding of Sharepoint (preferably MOSS 2007) and customizations to it including the following hands-on experience:

  • Working with the SharePoint 2007 Object Model
  • Using STSADM
  • Solid understanding of ASP.NET
  • Unit Testing
  • C#
  • XML/XSLT
  • SQL Server Integration Services
  • Administration, configuration and customization of SharePoint including developing and implementing custom and third-party Web Parts
  • Building SharePoint Features and Solutions
  • Creating custom site definitions
  • Site Branding
  • Developing event handlers
  • Creating list and content type definitions
  • Web Part and User Control Development
  • Using the OOB SharePoint Web Services
  • Configuring the Sharepoint Search – including defining Content Sources and Crawl Schedules, and creating Managed Properties, Crawl Rules, and Scopes.
  • Using the OOB Search Related Web Parts, including: Search Core Results Web Part, Best Bets, etc.
  • Using the Business Data Catalog
  • InfoPath Forms development and InfoPath Form Services configuration
  • Knowledge of SharePoint Designer
  • Building/Implementing Custom SharePoint Workflows (both SharePoint Designer based workflows and custom Workflow Foundation workflows)

 

Specific Duties
Project Role

    • Determine and document solution based on requirements – in conjunction with Architect & Project Team.
    • Ensure that there is traceability between requirements and code.
    • Provide guidance and solution strategies to the development team that best utilizes the SharePoint feature-sets as they pertain to the business requirements.
    • Write technical specifications for developers
    • Create Mockups, Wireframes, and Prototypes
    • Code and Configure solutions, as necessary
    • Assist Enterprise Architect / Senior Systems Analyst with a Build vs. Buy analysis
    • Provide input and guidance to the Quality Assurance team in creating test scenarios and viable results
    • Assist Project Manager in developing estimates for  the  project by identifying development team tasks
    • Facilitate internal IS communication by ensuring that business requirements are being translated to system requirements and infrastructure requirements which can be consumed by the development and operations teams.
    • Mentor development team on best practices, including security.
    • Do code reviews – ensure that code meets best practices and functionality.
    • Ensure that code is unit tested by developers
    • Ensure that release notes for migration are well documented.
    • Work with the Project Manager to identify out of scope items
    • Work with the Project Manager to identify project issues / risks
